Hannah first became interested in wine during her time living in the San Francisco Bay Area. Hannah visited several wineries in Sonoma County and loved the way that wine told a story about the earth, the winemakers, and the history of the grapes. She found it easy to connect with and relate to people through wine, and appreciated that we share some of our best stories with a wine glass in hand.
At the time, her friend was working for a wine distributor. The two of them regularly attended tastings at a wine bar in Oakland, which brought in different producers to showcase their wines. These experiences ignited Hannah’s interest in wine, and she continued to learn more through books, podcasts, and talking to fellow wine enthusiasts.
Once she moved to Boston, Hannah continued to attend wine classes and tastings in the area to develop her palate and learn more about the stories that wine can tell. Hannah has hosted many blind wine tasting parties and looks forward to her annual eight course dinner with wine pairings that she organizes for her family. Hannah is WSET 2 certified.
The idea for Pana Tastings developed in 2023 when Hannah decided she wanted to share her love of wine with others. Pana is the nickname of the town she lived in for two years in Guatemala: Panajachel. Hannah often describes her time in Panajachel as “the best two years of her life." She took risks that paid off, experienced the profound beauty of nature every day, and became friends with people from all over the world whom she stays in touch with today. Part of the natural beauty of Panajachel is the three volcanoes that surround Lake Atitlán. It was here that Hannah fell in love with the awesomeness of volcanoes, which inspired the Pana Tastings logo. Hannah is always looking for her next volcano adventure and seeks to introduce others to volcanic wines through Pana Tastings.
